LeBron Mania: The Lesson and Some Fun!

Here are my thoughts on LeBron’s move, please keep in mind that I don’t really follow the NBA all that much due to my feelings that the season is too long, so until it is down to the wire a single game doesn’t seem to matter… oh, and the only traveling in the NBA is on a plane, not a call on the basketball court!

Also, I know that there are people that are in shock over the circus that one person can create; I think that is a powerful lesson to learn: One person can make an impact on their city, their state, their country, their world.  So, even when their are crazy situations, look for the lesson - there is always one.

However, I was having thoughts about this and decided I should put them on paper after the media event of an announcement, and the inappropriate reaction by Dan Gilbert.  So, I would imagine that this is what a letter from LeBron to Dan Gilbert would look like:

Dear Dan Gilbert,

I thought that I should send you the top reasons that I decided to leave Cleveland:

1. There is no income tax in Florida.

2. I received a bribe to leave from the Cleveland Browns and Indians; so people would realize that there are other pro sports in Cleveland.

3. Ohio does not have a South Beach where women walk around in thongs. There is a lake… that’s it.

4. I was getting harassed by musicians that people were forgetting that the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame was in Cleveland.

5. Stars have homes in Miami… not Cleveland.

6. I needed to make Tom Izzo’s decision to stay at MSU even smarter.

7. I’m going after Lamar’s ring and Khloe’s show. Damn the Odoms!

8. I look good in red!

9. You work in mortgages; Micky Arison has a cruise line.

10. No one in Cleveland comes close to Pat Riley’s hair.

11. Oh and your antics, such as an immediate letter up on your website belittling me, are proof of the type of owner you are and gives insight into your character, as well. You had an opportunity to step up and be a leader for the city by simply thanking me for making you the most money in Cavs history through ticket and merchandise sales; but instead I look like the good guy and justified for leaving.

I would like to thank you for now providing me all of the locker room material that I need to motivate me and my teammates to get the ring before Cleveland even makes the playoffs again.

Sincerely,
LeBron

P.S. You can call me and refer to me as ‘King James’ from this point forward.

Little Reminders Everywhere!

There are things that I have either discovered or been reminded of recently that I just would like to communicate to you, as my friend, the amazing man or woman that you are:

  1. I believe Facebook (and now Twitter) are some of the best tools ever put in place… it has allowed me to connect back with so many friends from my youth (I refuse to say ‘old friends.’), stay in touch with recent friends and build not only a network, but when needed, a support system. (Thank you for the encouragement on the running!)
  2. Even though I am making less money than I have in years and I am back taking classes, I feel the best I have in such a long time.
  3. People need to do whatever they truly WANT to do… don’t worry about making others mad, or what others will think or if people will be disappointed – in the end, you are the one that will always have to live with the decision!
  4. There is no such thing as being too old to do something! (Did I mention I was back in school???)
  5. The past needs to be the past; while we can learn the lessons needed – dwelling on it will only make one miserable. Forgive and move on, as you are the only one that will be hurting from your stubbornness! I mean really 'Get Over It!!!' :-)
  6. You can never have too many people in your life! Just make sure that they are the right people and lift you up, but at the same time choose to see the good in people and this happens automatically!
  7. Working out, eating well, and drinking lots of water can be fun and it does give you more energy (I guess those doctors did know what they were talking about)
  8. Life is too short for pettiness and anything said needs to be looked at from a big picture view.
  9. I hope ALL of my friends know that you are loved.
  10. Nothing takes the place of true happiness, and I believe that how we look at things allows us to be happy.
  11. The glass should always be half full (compared to half empty), if it isn’t – fix it and fill it back up!
  12. I want to Celebrate EVERYTHING! I don't want to take anything for granted!
  13. I want you to know that even if I don’t speak to you every day, month, or even year that you are still in my heart. (Join Facebook or Twitter and I will probably chat with you more! LOL)
  14. The biggest reminder I have gotten recently: Living is simply more than just breathing…
